RUSH will head up this year’s inductees in the 2010 Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame.
According to the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame (CSHF) official website, the Toronto based progressive rockers will be receiving recognition for their songs: Tom Sawyer, Limelight, The Spirit of Radio, Subdivisions and Closer to the Heart.
The veteran Canadian trio, consisting of band members Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart, will be joined by fellow inductee Quebec singer-songwriter Robert Charlebois at the event.
Altogether, 11 songwriters, 16 songs and two Legacy Award recipients will be inducted.
The 2010 inductees will be honoured at the CSHF’s 6th Annual Gala, on Sunday, March 28, 2010, at the George Weston Recital Hall, Toronto Centre for the Arts.
The CSHF’s program will include a 6 part series entitled "If You Could Read My Mind" that will be kicked off on Thursday, February 4, 2010, by 2 of Canada's most iconic songwriters, Gordon Lightfoot and Gord Downie of the Tragically Hip.
A full line-up of performers for the 6th Annual Gala will be announced in the coming weeks.
Tickets are available through Ticketmaster at 416-870-8000 or on-line at ticketmaster.ca, cansong.ca, tocentre.com or in person at the TCA box office.
Did you know? Coincidentally, one of the six classic Canadian songs being inducted this year will be “The Hockey Theme” by Dolores Claman – a new version of which RUSH drummer Neil Peart just finished recording as the new theme for TSN and RDS hockey broadcast.
