- I believe the thing that makes Neil great ( and this comes from a hardcore neil peart fan) is not so much his technique, altough its far advanced than most amateur drummers out there, cause there are more virtuosic and technical drummers than neil. I believe the thing that makes him a great drummer is the TASTE to do his drumming, his arrangements, and stuff, for every song. He doesnt overplay, but he can make the drums oustand without compromising the song or the drum´s task keeping tempo.
